Variate Facing is the first novel in the thrilling Stardust Destinies YA/New Adult, Epic Fantasy/High fantasy adventure series.

The 2nd Edition of Stardust Destinies I Variate Facing is now available on Amazon, Barnes n Noble, Chapters/Indigo, and other online book stores.

Author’s Note:

I am so proud of myself to have worked on this 2nd Edition. I learnt so much, not only working with other editors, but also as a writer on Medium, and I put all I learnt into enhancing the story of the first book to bring it up to par with the 2nd.

The re-edit includes extended scenes, rephrasing of the narrative in some places to respect my voice better, revisions by my new editor who edited book 2, and a few additional changes, like turning ‘said’ dialogue tags into alternatives that convey the characters’ emotions better.

Embark on the journey with the Five of the Star!

‘This is not a fight about power. It is not a fight against evil alone. It is for love that we do this. It’s a fight about peace, it’s a fight about magic, it’s a fight to save our friends, our lands, our world. It’s a fight for the Freedom of Life!’

The Old Grey House – Fantasy Fiction Song from Stardust Destinies

The following is a passage from Stardust Destinies I Variate Facing.

‘Why, I’m Drúgan. I live here with my two grandchildren, who took it upon themselves to help me help others. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of me — I’m in the old songs, you know. There’s even a song about my daughter and her husband, who have their own invisible house.’

‘Well,’ began Vigh, ‘I’m afraid we haven’t been singing the songs for a long time.’

‘I understand,’ said Drúgan. ‘Let me have the honour.’ He cleared his throat and began to sing with gusto.

Up in the north near the Ortim River,
Lives old Drúgan in that land;
And when you go up thither,
No doubt he will give you a hand.

There with him lives Tlúnëe,
The bravest of the warriors,
With his green eyes like the sea
And his silk hat with the feathers.

There also lives young Clahria,
With her long golden hair,
Who, like her mother Maria,
Practices magic in a secret lair.

Shining Stars and Cruel Curses

Sayings and Insults from Stardust Destinies Epic Fantasy Adventure with Romance stories

There are several sayings in the world of Stardust Destinies, some with sinister origins.

“May the Stars Shine Upon You.”

This saying is a farewell wish. It means the speaker is wishing the other safe travels and to remain protected.

The stars are spirits of magical beings who passed on through stardust into a different realm beyond. They can come down and guide others. It is said they guide them to protect them or help them discover truths — without revealing what they know, however, for it is up to the living to discover these truths themselves.

However, there was a time, long before recorded history, when a powerful being had so much malice and power, his magic cast a veil upon the sky and the stars were shrouded, unable to help or guide, unable to be seen, and the threat of utter destruction of the lands loomed in the air. It is unknown what happened to this being or how this being was defeated, but since then, anyone who wishes another well and safety, wishes for the stars to guide them, for as long as the stars shine, life and magic are safe.

The Portal Key Spell

The Portal Key Spell is the spell that allows one with enough knowledge of magic and powerful enough in magic to enter the Portal that lies in the Dragon’s Lair in Darakön. This spell allows the caster to enter even without the explicit permission of the dragons. Rare exceptions exist where the dragons allowed one to enter without the spell.

A Piece From Kaulchèc History

Before recorded history, the Kaulchèc came to the Great Ocean Valley and taught polcs how to utilise their magic in more powerful and practical ways. These Kaulchèc also discovered that if one enters the Portal, one can understand and master magic more powerfully. Upon reemerging from the Portal, one will be more powerful than any other.

To mitigate greed for power, Teloria’s rulers declared that one could only go through the Portal near the end of their life if they were already powerful enough in magic. In this way, that polc would die and become a star and not reemerge. Thus, the people of Teloria came to an agreement with the dragons who guarded the Portal.

However, greed for power overcame Bortah Mittèlor during King Silovah Firlan Mittèlor’s rule, and the king banished his brother and other members of his family from Teloria, in 2260 of Kaulchèc History. Eventually, fearing that greed would overcome him as well, Silovah Firlan left in exile, with many following him, and formed the small kingdom of Firlan Forest.

Over time, Bortah Mittèlor and his followers and new allies from the western islands, founded Morok, now known as Mork, with the goal to one day gain access to the Portal.
