“I Love You,” Was The Best Holiday Gift I Ever Got!

Lucy Sochainvited me to write about the worst and best holiday gifts I ever received.

My birthday is close to the Solstice so I sometimes get gifts combined. Though, I don’t really do gifts with my family much anymore. We sometimes do gifts, but since I can’t afford them, I don’t expect them.

My mom and siblings always know what to give when they gift me things, they always know what I need, be it a video game I wanted, socks, vitamins, soap, money, or a nice sweater. My sister knows where I shop and we sometimes even have the same top from the same store, so it’s always fun when she picks an extra one for me.

The worst gift I ever got was…

From a friend who gave me perfumed bath products. I’m allergic to perfumes and fragrances. Both to breathe and on my skin. So yeah, I gave it to another friend several months later who was really happy to receive the kit. She knew it was a hand-me-down gift and was happy I had thought of her for it.

Best gift…

Like I said, my mom, sister, and brother tend to know what to get me. My husband and I give the gift of time spent together, or a massage, or something fun like that that we do for the other.

I think the best gift I ever got was from my dad.

The Compliment Book – Epic Fantasy Fiction Lore for Stardust Destinies

The Compliment Book is the second of two spell books containing important and powerful spells. The first book, the Book of Enchantment, contains the first half or main parts of spells, and the Compliment Book contains the other half or the commanding final phrase of the spell.

The books were created from one original book in order to protect the Portal Key Spell from the Morkans who wished to gain access to the Portal and be the most powerful.

Entering the Portal was reserved for those knowledgeable and powerful enough in magic who were ready to pass on to become stars at the end of their life.

What Happened During My Lost Hour? An Unsolved Mystery Anecdote!

It was a normal school day. I followed my routine. I was on time.
And somewhere between leaving the house and arriving at school, I lost an hour, and my memory of what happened during that hour has been wiped.

/cue in the Main Theme from the X-Files

I had class at 8:30 AM. I had to leave at 7:30 AM to get there in time with a bit of leeway. This was back in CEGEP (college) in my first year in 2000. I’d usually wake up between 6:30 and 7:00 AM. (I could get ready to leave the house a lot faster back then.)

I checked the time on my alarm clock when I woke up.
Checked my watch when I left the house to catch the bus.

It was NOT Daylight Savings time. No clocks were moving back or forward. And it was Autumn, so if it were, it would have given me an extra hour since it would have moved back. But there were no time changes.

When I arrived at the Metro Station (which is the American Subway but in Canada Subway is a sandwich restaurant lol) the time displayed on all the digital clocks that hung in many places of the station was 7:45 AM.

Since I was on time, I didn’t bother to check my watch again.

I simply sat inside the metro wagon as it took me where I needed to get to.

The Red Herring – Fiction Short Story — Detective — Mystery — Romance

Peter watched the interrogation from the other side of the glass window, musing over what their prime suspect was divulging while he waited for forensics to return with any fingerprints. He absently passed his thumb and index over his moustache.

Their suspect, a lean woman with a sultry voice whose long wavy hair fell below her breasts, sat with an arm draped over the back of the interrogation chair, jutting her chest out to expose her cleavage, as though she were giving a celebrity interview. God only knew she thought of herself as one. Her lavish crimson dress was cut at just the right angles and the way she moved only made the heat rise to Peter’s face.

Peter’s colleague, Michael, concluded the interrogation and entered the room Peter was watching from. Peter cleared his throat. Michael looked completely unphased.

‘Certainly lives up to her name, doesn’t she?’ Peter remarked. ‘What, with that dress.’

Michael shrugged. ‘Unlike you, I wasn’t paying attention to what she was wearing, I was busy asking her the right questions.’

‘We need to piece the timeline,’ Peter prompted, quickly changing the subject.

‘Dinner party with concert afterwards, except our victim never makes it to the concert after retreating to change, the other guests arrive late, while the smoke alarm in the manor goes off before our victim is found by the maid.’

‘Did you speak to her? The maid?’

Michael rolled his eyes. ‘Sadly, yes. She’s insufferable. Complaints left and right, droning on about nothing ever left in its place once touched by anyone, and her laugh, ugh, I think she’s a witch.’

‘A witch? Really?’ Peter chuckled.

‘Have you heard her laugh?’ Michael’s eyes widened. ‘She cackles!’ He shook his head. The overhead light cast a soft glow on his five o’clock shadow — it had been a long day, and it was far from over.

Peter chuckled again. He looked over at their suspect who turned to sit facing the glass –the mirror from her side– and puckered her lips seductively.

Peter cleared his throat. ‘I swear, she knows we’re watching her.’

Michael placed a hand on Peter’s shoulder. ‘If she’s cleared, are you going to take her home?’

Peter grinned, feeling his cheeks flush.
