The Demon Hunts the God Part 2

Where the story leaves, Lucanis has hunted Solas only to discover his deception in this hunt. Now Lucanis must contemplate what has been proposed to him.

Lucanis and Solas get into an intrication that leaves on of them fighting for his life.

Lucanis rapped his fingers on the wooden table; the sound echoed in the cavernous chamber. He was leaning back on the chair, an arm resting on its top rail. The wind outside the thaig within the mountain whistled. His gloves lay on the table next to a candle that had burnt halfway down. It lit the Dread Wolf’s face with an amber glow, making the elf’s eyes look ominous in the low light contrasting the Veilfire torch that stood behind him.
Lucanis stared at Solas, keeping his expression neutral. Solas had explained to him his plan and his reasons, time had whittled away, and the silence would have been overwhelming if not for Lucanis’s rapping of his fingers. He’d been staring at his quarry for a long time. He had met very few people who could maintain eye contact with him for this long without being intimidated. He kept his head low, his eyes upward. Given he rested his mask atop his head, at this angle, his expression should have appeared more intimidating. And yet, the elf merely stared back, waiting, looking very patient.
Lucanis stopped himself from rolling his eyes. He had been hoping the elf would have broken eye contact by now.
Lucanis paused and placed his hand flat on the table, cocking his head to the side. ‘You want me to hunt beings who might not even be alive.’
        ‘That is correct,’ replied Solas.
‘You hunt them. Find them through the Fade.’
‘It’s not that simple, as I’ve told you. They are very well hidden, some of them may even be going by an alias. The world of dreams can only reveal so much. I have visited the memories of the places where I suspect they last were, but that did not reveal where each of them is now.’
Lucanis stared for another moment. ‘You want me to find and hunt the very beings who are the reason that blights exist.’ He said conclusively. ‘You want me,’ he stood and walked behind his chair, taking hold of its top rail, ‘to find ages-old magisters because you believe,’ he said pointing at Solas, ‘that doing so will save Thedas. From what? You? There’s obviously something you’re not telling me.’
‘It would be too easy for me to reveal all my secrets,’ said Solas.
‘Oh, sure!’ Lucanis chuckled. ‘You’ve lost your mind, old elf. Some of the seven are dead, others are missing. Two are at least searching for their old god. And who knows where the remaining fled to. And you want me to find them? Magister darkspawn. Beings like Corypheus!’ He let out a mirthless laugh.
‘You are excellent at what you do,’ said Solas. ‘You can detect magic, I’m told.’ He paused. ‘You followed my trail here.’
Lucanis leaned forward. ‘Don’t insult my intelligence.’
‘You will have access to the Eluvian network,’ said Solas, unphased.
‘And pray, tell me, since I possess no magic of my own, how will I activate these Eluvians?’
‘With this elven artifact,’ said Solas. He placed a runic key on the table that glowed with magic. It made Lucanis’s eyes sting.
Lucanis shook his head. ‘I’m sorry. You’re on your own. I’m not doing it. Hunting you was one thing, but the magisters sidereal… No.’
Lucanis took his gloves, turned on his heels, and began towards the corridor that led back the way he’d come.
‘The stakes are too high to refuse,’ Solas called after him.
‘Find someone else,’ Lucanis shouted back.
He reached the Eluvian; it shimmered. He continued forward.
‘I don’t think you understand,’ said Solas from behind him.
Lucanis glanced at the elf. Solas’s eyes glowed white, and the Eluvian’s shimmering surface darkened and cracked.
        ‘I’m giving you no choice.’
There was something in Solas’s tone that gave warning to danger.
Lucanis laughed joylessly. ‘I might have known.’ He turned back to face Solas. ‘They say, “May the Dread Wolf take you,” because I walked right into his trap.’ Lucanis clocked in his memory the other passage out of the room at the far end. He pressed his finger on the palm of his hand, bringing forward a hidden dart, readying himself. ‘Looks like I’m going to have to do this the hard way.’

Protectors of the Force Chapter Six (Star Wars SWTOR Fan-Fiction)

Fane opened his eyes and was shocked to see a green figure looming over him, raising a black core lightsaber.  He called his lightsaber to his hand using the Force and shouted out:
            ‘Jassahmi!’
His aqua blade came to life in time to block hers.  Talyc awoke and moved aside, rolling out of bed and reaching for his vibroblade.
‘Gentlemen, please, such indecency,’ laughed Jassahmi.  ‘You should probably get dressed, you might lose a few bits otherwise.’  Her laugh became a cackle.
Fane shoved her away with the Force.  He didn’t care that he was naked.  His life was in danger; Talyc’s life was in danger.  Jassahmi was going to die and he would make sure of it.
Jassahmi began to whirl around him with such speed, he could barely follow her.  He channelled some of the power from the Crypt and her movements seemed to slow, though he could tell by how Talyc was frantically waving his vibroblade about that Jassahmi’s movements were still sped up.  Fane attacked the Mirialan from the side, trying to prevent her from reaching Talyc.
The door burst open and in rushed Shadie, Knarf, Mandalore and a few others.  Blaster fire came flying in, but Jassahmi bounced them back towards the Mandalorians.  Fane kept fighting her and he saw Knarf run back out of the room.  Jassahmi grabbed Talyc with the Force and began choking him.
‘You think this is going to hurt me after everything Relsor and Perce did to me, Jassahmi?’ said Talyc.  ‘There’s nothing you can do to me.’
‘We’ll just see about that,’ she replied.
Fane came in and blocked her lightsaber, shoving her again with the Force.  He advanced on her as best he could, but she kept coming back and attacking him with more force than before.  Fane felt himself lift into the air and crash against the wall.
Jassahmi pulled Talyc towards her, but he lifted his vibroblade in time to block her lightsaber. The black blade might have been able to go through beskar’gam, but thankfully, the vibrational speed of the vibroblade ensured the vibroblade did not break or bend.
Shadie and the others tried to get into the fight, but Jassahmi had been trained by Relsor and she used similar tactics to keep them at bay.  No one was getting into that fight, not unless they knew how to keep track of her speedy movements.  Talyc bounced from side to side, dodging this way and that, and rolling this way and that.  Jassahmi was a blur and Fane could see Shadie rub her eyes and blink a few times.
Fane was the only one able to keep track of Jassahmi’s movements.  Talyc swiped at empty air.  Jassahmi slashed and lunged, nicking Talyc’s arm.
Talyc gave a cry of pain.  He rolled aside.  ‘At least it’s not the left shoulder.’
‘It could be,’ said Jassahmi.  ‘I’m more than happy to oblige.’

Perce and Awgro (SWTOR Fanfic Photoshop Experiments)

Perce is depicted by my in-game SWTOR character Killian, who has a massive three claw scar on the left side of his face. So I have to remove the scare every time, since Perce does not have such a scar.

Here he is gearing up to fight Knarf. He wields his red lightsaber and is summoning lightning at his fingertips. The first version of this image, had Perce on this background simply standing there, and I realised it looked off. So I recorded Killian walking, and simply added the legs on top of the old version, erasing what needed to disappear, adjusting the colour and light as needed. Now he’s walking towards Knarf and looking a lot more imposing than before. I quite like this image.

Here Awgro stand on Relsor’s flagship looking out the viewport into space. At first I had forgotten to add the background, so I had space and stars behind Awgro. It looked like he was floating a bit, even with everything else in place. The background makes the whole difference, and where the background is darker, he see the reflection of space better. The goal was to make it look as though we the viewer are outside the ship looking inside at Awgro looking out.

Readers don’t know it yet but Awgro is more than meets the eye and has a very dark secret that is very dangerous for one particular character especially.

Protectors of the Force Chapter Five (Star Wars SWTOR Fan-Fiction)

Knarf was looking over his datapad; Shadie was leaning over his shoulder.  Fane felt uneasy.  He could sense Relsor in the Force, but the True Sith leader was still concealing his Force presence.  The only reason Fane could even remotely sense him was because of his connection to him.
Fane glanced at the others in the bunker’s tapcaf. Talyc fidgeted, he looked stern.  He sat across the table and had not moved when Fane, Shadie and Knarf had arrived.  The rest of Clan Kandera was sitting around the table, chatting, or looking as uneasy as Fane felt.  Master Usharr was a little farther away, telling old tales from his younger days to the gang of pirates.
‘Another clanmate was found dead,’ said Knarf, still looking at his datapad, ‘smoke rising from his body and with lightsaber cauterisations.’
Talyc shook his head.  ‘This is clearly Relsor and Perce,’ he said.  ‘It feels unsafe.  Relsor and Perce and Jassahmi are on Mandalore and my home feels unsafe.  It was safer on Tython.’
‘It was safer when he had us as his prisoners,’ said Shadie, ‘but it doesn’t change that the entire galaxy is at risk.’
‘Yeah, but he wouldn’t be on Mandalore if you weren’t here,’ said Talyc.  ‘Mandalorians wouldn’t be dying if it weren’t for you.  Though I’m still not so sure Relsor is behind all this.’
‘What does that mean?’ snapped Shadie.
‘I think you know what it means,’ said Talyc.  ‘I still think one of you did it.’
‘I think it changes nothing,’ said Nriwe.  ‘Relsor goes where he feels he can have the most control.  He’s not following Shadie.’
‘Maybe not, but the reason I was captured and tortured, the reason we’ve lost so many clanmates and fellow Mandalorians, the reason Relsor and Perce are here, is because of the Jedi.  They are to blame for Kelbourn’s death!’
Knarf breathed out a calculated breath that sounded more like an “oh”.
Fane’s heart sank further.  Talyc still wasn’t himself, even after finding no evidence to prove his theories, but these were his words, and he knew Talyc was not possessed.
‘You’re being influenced by Relsor’s malady,’ said Fane.  ‘Talyc–’
‘Don’t start, Fane.  One of the main reasons everything that is ill that has befallen me is our relationship.’  That hurt. It hurt like a fresh wound every time Talyc mentioned it, and Fane was willing to bet Talyc knew it too.
Everyone fidgeted as though they had felt it.
‘He doesn’t mean it,’ said Nriwe in an apologetic tone.
            ‘Yes, I do,’ Talyc retorted.
An awkward silence fell, and many from the clan looked at Talyc in shock.
‘What are you implying?’ said Fane, clenching his jaw tightly.
‘You, Fane, are the malady in my life.’  There, Talyc had said the worst, it hurt more than any of the other jabs he’d said.  ‘I think you should leave. Then Relsor would go with you and leave the rest of us alone.’
‘You want me to leave you alone?’
‘I think that would be best, yes.’  Talyc leaned forward on the table and, through clenched teeth, spoke slowly and menacingly.  ‘I want you gone.’
Fane stood abruptly and stalked off.
