When Did We Cross These Lines? Dark Poem — Dark Poetry

Me: Well, we’ll go with a different one today, since I can’t find the boogie one.

Ah well, I have no idea where I put it now. It’s a boogie-type song I wrote. I want to give it a sinister twist. Let’s put it out there for me to find it.

Apologies for the short rant.

Today’s poem is…interesting. It reads like a song. I don’t remember when I wrote or what mindset I was in. What my message was, so I will leave its interpretation up to you.

When Did We Cross These Lines?

When does a smile become a smirk?
When does the truth become a lie?
When does gratitude become regret?
When does forgiveness become revenge?
When does companionship become solitude?
When did you become so cruel?

What does it take to make you happy?
‘You’re beautiful,’ is just not good enough.
You want more than you need.
‘Let go my hand, you’re too rough.’
We all want to be left alone.

When does love become hate?
When does friendship become condescension?
When does openness become stubbornness?
When does knowledge become ignorance?
When does wisdom become cunning?
When did you become so false?

The Lonely Verse – Sad Poem — Sad Love — Mournful Poem

While my poems thus far have typically been more extensive, today’s is a bit different. Due to a lack of “spoons” (a.k.a. energy), I find myself emotionally drained. There are some things going on that are affecting me in a negative way.

I feel bad, I feel sad.

The other person whom this also affects understands how I feel. We are both doing our best to navigate this new challenge we both find ourselves in. We do know that no matter what, we love each other and we want to figure out a solution. It’s just that long hours of work, fatigue, stress, and anxiety are affecting us both.

As a result, I feel alone and neglected.

Guilty for having so many needs.

I thought about putting these feelings into poem form. The only thing I was able to put together was one verse. But that one verse feels so complete in and of itself. It describes the emotions well. Perhaps it doesn’t need more to it.

Le Cercueil — The Coffin – Un poème — A Poem

I forget when I wrote this one, but I am mildly surprised at how lovely it’s written and how it flows.

My character who is the subject of the poem, is a young woman, and a fictional character I wrote about.

I am first including the original French version, as I wrote it. Below I will have the English translation. Hopefully my translation can do my French words justice.

Warnings: Suicide subject matter.

The Coffin (English Translation)

There she is finally.
She is sorrowful,
an expression of deception upon her face.
All she ever desired,
was some peace and freedom,
but she did not find these.
She is still and forever alone,
in this room,
with the scent of maquillage
and three nuns.

Hell — Musings from the Past – A Poem Contemplating Heaven and Hell

This is my first poem for The Black Veil and I am thrilled to join the publication.

Today’s poem comes courtesy from the past, from a notebook wherein I wrote some poems during my later teen years.

So without further ado…

HELL

It’s not a place where you go when you die,
nor a place you go because you were “bad”.
Hell is your existence on Earth,
depending what you’re living through;
what happened in your past,
and who you are surrounded by.

Of course, it’s quite possible,
to have Heaven on Earth.
The complicated thing is,
you can have Hell in Heaven,
you can have Heaven in Hell.
