Fane and Talyc are main characters from my Star Wars fan-fiction series, which takes place in the Old Republic era. Fane is a Jedi and Shadie’s apprentice, with an aqua coloured lightsaber. Talyc Kandera is a Mandalorian from Clan Kandera. Both these characters discover something about themselves on Coruscant, which sort of challenges them in a way, but of course, you’ll have to read the story to know what that is.

Fane on Coruscant (Shadie series – Binky Ink – Celinka Serre)

Fane and Talyc both were created in-game of Dragon Age: Inquisition. I had something specific in mind that only the elaborate character creation of DAI could give me. For Talyc, I slapped armour on his body and added a scar on his nose. For Fane, I kept part of the Inquisitor’s tunic, and added Jedi armour, using colour replacement tools for both characters.

Talyc Kandera on Coruscant (Shadie series – Binky Ink – Celinka Serre)

The screenshots I use from SWTOR as backgrounds for these are from my Coruscant stronghold. It was the perfect fit. We don’t see much of Fane’s lightsaber, but I plan on using more screenshots in the future for future stories, where we can see Fane in a more elaborate fighting stance.

Doing cosplay with a mix of SWTOR gear and backgrounds is one thing, and using SWTOR in-game characters to embody my story’s characters was simple. This was the first time I mixed games and “cross-played” to fanfic cosplay characters, so I was’t sure what the end result would be. I plan on advancing my skills in the future to create improved photos.

Brenum and Trylia are main characters in my Star Wars fan-fiction series, which takes place in the Old Republic era. Brenum is human and Trylia is Togruta, both are Jedi.

Trylia on Coruscant (Shadie series – Binky Ink – Celinka Serre)

As per my description of Trylia, she has a purple staff lightsaber. Again I used an in-game character from SWTOR, changing the colour of her skin and lekku with the colour replacement tool. I used Puppet Warp for her arms, to position them the way I needed them to be. As usual, for the lightsaber, I inserted a hilt in the image, careful to erase the parts that need to be behind her hand, and used rounded reactable with outer glows and blurs for the lightsaber itself. Lighting effects enhanced the SWTOR screeshot background.

Brenum on Coruscant (Shadie series – Binky Ink – Celinka Serre)

I did similarly for Brenum,with the blades and background. Since part of the background has shadow, and each blade is a different colour, I had to get creative and layer my background and play around with lightning effects in that way. I wanted to ensure the yellow got its area lit yellow, and the blue blade got its area lit blue. For Brenum, I used a screenshot as well, and I was lucky to have videos of him doing backflips and such, for I used one of those, which give a cool fighting stance, I find.

Knarf, Shadie and Relsor are main characters in my Star Wars fan-fictions series, which takes place in the Old Republic era. Knarf and Shadie have a face-off, while Relsor, the True Sith Chiss master, watches on.

This was a more elaborate image to put together. First I place my husband and me in the SWTOR background. We had anticipated such scenes when we took our photos together. The next step was adjusting the colour and lighting to our bodies. Then I slapped on the armour on Knarf’s body. I had to use various layers of armour with multiple Puppet Warps to get the positioning right.

My lightsaber was easiest. I had my DIY premade hilt in hand, and angling the blade wasn’t too difficult. Again, outer glow on Blade and Glow layers with some blurs and such, having started with a rounded rectangle, was how I got the lightsabers. I had to find a hilt for Knarf, and the blade was easy.

Now, placing Relsor, was another story. I took a screenshot from SWTOR, of the character I had created in-game, removed Relsor from the background there and resized him. Resizing just right and positioning him was a bit trickier than I had anticipated. I wish I had been able to place some shadow for all three characters, but I haven’t figured out how to create a body shadow and get it the way I need to go. So I gave up on the shadow.

I had created a costume for myself, so I did not need to slap on any armour onto my photo. I simply needed to remove myself from the photo onto a new background, a screenshot from SWTOR. As always, I used various adjustments to ensure the colour and brightness fit.

Knarf on Coruscant (Shadie series – Binky Ink – Celinka Serre)

Same thing with Knarf for this photo, but again I slapped on the armour for him, using the colour adjustment tool to alter its colour.
